Playboi Carti Continues Taking Atlanta’s Sound Global

Atlanta native Playboi Carti isn’t letting up anytime soon. From sold-out shows to a global fanbase, Carti has managed to turn his music into something much bigger than music.

And somehow, he keeps people watching.

Carti's career has never really followed the traditional rap blueprint. He came up during the SoundCloud era, building momentum with records like “Broke Boi” before songs like “Magnolia” pushed him into a completely different level of visibility.

After years of fans waiting, Carti finally released MUSIC in March 2025. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and continued charting for months afterward.

Carti has built an entire world around himself. The fashion, performances, Opium aesthetic and artists associated with his movement have created a culture that fans can recognize before Carti even says anything.

Most recently, Carti surprised fans at London's Wembley Stadium by joining The Weeknd onstage for “Timeless” and “Rather Lie.” The appearance put an Atlanta rapper in front of one of the largest audiences in the world — and it didn't feel out of place at all.
