Hooper James Keeps the Pressure on With “Wham!”

Hooper James isn’t waiting for the industry to decide when his moment starts.

The Boston-born, Atlanta-based rapper, songwriter and producer has spent 2026 building momentum through new music, live performance and a growing presence within Atlanta’s hip-hop scene. That momentum reached a new level earlier this year when Hooper James was named Hot 107.9’s Athlete of the Mic winner, earning him a performance on the sold-out Birthday Bash XXX stage.

For an independent artist still building his name, it was the kind of opportunity that can shift perception.

But Hooper’s year hasn’t been centered around one performance.

His catalog has continued expanding throughout 2026 with releases including Hannah Montana, “Beachfront,” “UBER JAMES” and most recently “Wham!”, released August 28. He has also appeared across a growing list of collaborations, keeping his name moving beyond his own releases.

Hooper studied music production and audio engineering before relocating to Atlanta to pursue his career more seriously.
